Jeep JKs are some of the toughest vehicles out there. But for all of their rugged traits and robust capabilities, their interiors can still get messed up big time. Not to mention, they aren’t the greatest when it comes to noise and heat insulation.
Fortunately, there is a solution. Called Armorlite, it’s a floor protector that installs cleanly into a Wrangler JK. It uses a special three-layer construction that combines durability, insulation, and noise suppression all into one.
The parts that make up the whole start with the top layer – a proprietary thermoplastic blend. This layer is designed to protect the Armorlite, preventing scratching while also offering good grip and water protection. The middle layer is polyester and also offers styling options and rigidity, enhancing its fitment inside the cabin. Finally, the bottom layer is also polyester, but acts as a heat and noise shield. Now it’s easy to see how the sum of these parts makes for a fantastic whole.
In the above video, Auria showcases what it takes to install the Armorlite full vehicle kit, starting with the driver’s seat. To begin, the seat moves back and the center console trim is loosened. Working front to back, the Armorlite gets worked into its space, as its molded shape follows the contours of the interior. The mat contains drain plug holes to match the OEM design, and can be filled with Armorlite’s optional drain plugs if the customer so chooses.
The rear follows the same procedure as the front, except that it spans both driver passenger sides. Once the flooring is in, it’s easy to see that Armorlite works well as a team, with the rear piece interlocking with the front pieces to make it all one-piece. All that’s left to do once the pieces are in is reinstall the center console trim, making sure that it comes down over the Armorlite, clamping it in place and reinforcing its structure.
When all is said and done, the Armorlite takes on the appearance of a factory-installed floor, but with the added benefits of durability, insulation, and noise suppression. For a job that you can do yourself in a day’s time, it’s an awesome investment and upgrade.
