2020 Mint 400: Breaking Down the Limited Race Results

While many like to concentrate on the “big boy toys,” there are many other classes that took part in the Mint 400 and these are their results.

One of the many changes that occurred during the 2020 running of the Mint 400 was a switch to running the Limited Classes on Friday and the Unlimited Classes on Saturday. We can tell you that was a welcome change just from having to deal with less traffic on Interstate 15 during the race. However, The Mint is more than the Unlimited Trucks and Class 10 cars or even the racing itself.

Competition starts as early as Thursday night during the Mint 400 Block Party and the Pit Crew Challenge. Here, Unlimited Truck and Baja Truck teams battled for the fastest crews of the race. Ryan Poleman’s team of Bryan Basile, Allen Cullen, and Karl Green tacking victory in the Unlimited Trucks.

Meanwhile, for the Baja Trucks it was the legendary Householder Motorsports crew taking the Pro Eagle Golden Jack, scoring their third consecutive victory in the competition.

The Limited races started early on Friday morning with Class 5 racing out first, but the headliner of the race was UTV Pro Turbo and Brandon Sims in the Tensor Tire/RZR Factory Racing Polaris RZR taking the win over Jacob Carver in the ITP Tires/RZR Factory Racing Polaris RZR. In UTV Pro Unlimited it was Travis Zollinger in the X-Comp/Zollinger Racing Products Can-Am Maverick X3 beating out Eric Phillips in his A2D Sledworks/Property by Laura Halverson Can-Am Maverick X3.

Finally, in UTV Pro Naturally Aspirated, it was off-road veteran, Robby Gordon, in the Speed UTV/Toyo Tires Textron Wildcat XX that took the lead over Adrian Orellana’s Assault Industries Polaris RZR. However, Robby Gordon was DQ’d for having an unlicensed/unregistered co-driver sitting in for a full lap. Adrian Orellana is the official Pro UTV Naturally Aspirated winner. This also bumps Kaden Wells in the Assault Industries Polaris RZR up to second.

The 1450 Class saw double duty from Kevin Thompson in the Concrete Motorsports Herbst Smith Fab-built Ford Truck. He beat out Cole Spires in the Kyle Green Fabrication Ford Ranger. In Trophy Lite, Joe Fitos in the ORP truck took the win, beating out the Burger King truck of Tom Barnett. Class 11 – the fan favorite stock Bug class – Eric Palacios in the Exa Volkswagen Beetle won his class over Andy McClanahan in his Coast Fire Place Volkswagen Beetle. Class 10, which was originally scheduled to race on Friday, was bumped to Saturday and Preston Brigman in his FX Construction Alumi Craft car took first over Brent Fox in the other FX Construction Alumi Craft car. Class 7 saw Randy Merritt in the KC HiLites Ford beat the Honda Performance Development Honda Ridgeline with Jeff Proctor behind the wheel. Class 6100 had Mike Neff take the win in the Nitro Fish Mason Motorsports built truck over Mitch Armstrong in the Armstrong Sweeping Inc Mason Motorsports truck.

As of the moment of publication, these results are still unofficial. if any changes occur, we’ll update this story as soon as we get official word of those changes.
