Video: Truck Goes For Wild Ride During Parker 425 Qualifying

Race week is in full swing and at yesterday’s Best in the Desert Parker 425 qualifying one team went for a ride that they didn’t plan on. Andrew Whitehead driver on Youtheory Racing had a mishap during his qualifying run that knocks him out of the race before it started.

Coming down a straightaway at a blistering pace, the truck hit the first hill a little too hard sending him into the landing too far. The truck came out of rhythm before it was sent rolling four times.

Upon impact, the truck appeared to have taken flight before being torn apart during the rolls. Whitehead suffered some injuries and underwent neck surgery on Friday, January 24th. We hope that he has a speedy recovery and is back in the seat soon.

In the end, it was Harley Letner in the no. 70 Concrete Motorsports truck that came home with the fastest time in the Trick Truck class. Letner was followed by Jason Voss, Justin Lofton, Robby Gordon, and Robert Johnson in the top five for the class.

Racing action kicks off in the Arizona desert tomorrow before the bigger and faster classes take to the dirt on Saturday. Live tracking can be found on the Best in the Desert website. Who do you think will win? Tell us in the comments below!
