SEMA 2019: Custom Autosound Manufacturing New Slidebar Radio

An excellent audio system in your car makes a good drive, better.

Custom Autosound Manufacturing has been supplying melodious sound reproduction for the classic car hobby for years, with quality audio components that blend seamlessly with our rods, customs, and trucks.

We talked with Ryan McDonald, sales manager with Custom Autosound, to fill us in on its latest and greatest gear. Ryan told Power Automedia, “Our big reveal this year is the Slidebar radio, with over 40 years of development, it’s our most original looking radio. Its designed to fit the original dash with no cutting necessary, requires no assembly, and just slides right in.”

One of our favorite features of the Slidebar radio is the sliding switch that cloaks the display as just an AM radio, thereby deflecting prying eyes of local thieves. Above – ready to rock. Below – Just a stock (looking) radio…Nothing to see here.

Additionally, “Custom Autosound’s Slidebar Radio provides enthusiasts with a completely authentic looking classic car or truck stereo without sacrificing the latest in technology. Best of all, it will fit in your vehicle’s dash without any modifications required.

The Slidebar Radio provides the best of both worlds, an accurate working slidebar display and a full-featured digital display in the same stereo. Simply slide the bar in the center of the radio to the right and hide the analog slidebar revealing a full-featured digital display underneath. The slidebar is designed with large OEM-style push-buttons to compliment the look of your classic car. Its digital display provides seven backlit color options designed to match the color of your dash instrumentation.

“When it comes to technology, the Slidebar is designed with the best features available, including a USB input for flash drives and a Dock for your iPod. When connected to these devices, the radio’s digital display will display the artist, song, and album. It even allows song navigation through the radio itself.

“The slidebar is compatible with our optional BLUKIT, which enables Bluetooth streaming from your enabled phone or device, as well as hands-free mobile calling through the vehicle speakers & BLUKIT’s built-in microphone. With a 300-watt peak, the radio provides plenty of power but additionally contains four pre-outs and one subwoofer out. The Slidebar also comes with Aux-in for optional satellite radio as well as our optional compact CD/DVD player,” according to Custom Autosound Manufacturing. The company says the Slidebar radio will fit 500 applications, here are some examples:
