Checking In: Brenthel Industries Gen 3 Trophy Truck

Trophy Trucks have a holy place in the off-road community and can be considered the pinnacle of off-road vehicles. Being able to see these trucks off the dirt is a sight to see with the amount of engineering and technology that goes into them to be able to haul through the desert.

We had the chance to catch up with Brenthel Industries and see their Gen 3 Trophy Truck. Trophy Trucks have evolved to become lighter and faster, and these Gen 3 trucks mirror the trend.

Billet is in and these trucks can be optioned with billet front spindles, rear links, and even steering components. Not only do these parts add strength, but the visual aesthetics are totally worth it.

Billet! Billet everywhere! Not only do these parts look good, but they add strength and looks to the Trophy Trucks.

“There have been a lot of progressions for us in building trucks, but some of the largest is the billet pieces and all our CAD designed parts are numbered and labeled tubes,” Jonathan Brenthel explained. “The organization is what makes up able to complete 1.5 Trophy Trucks a month and 15 trucks a year along with all the prep we need to do.”

Like a Lego set, instructions are followed to build these Trophy Trucks. Tubes are taken off the shelf and matched together to complete the truck. Once off the jig table, the trucks go on a rotisserie to get fully welded.

Efficiency is key when building as many trucks as the Brenthels have lined up. Truck building for them is pulling pre-notched and bent tubes off the shelf and matching up the numbers etched into them. “The trucks have about 2,000 hours of fabrication and assembly,” Jonathan said.

Complete they take full shape and the Brenthel Trophy Trucks look good sitting still or in the dirt.

Being able to build trucks efficiently and making sure every truck that is built is exactly the same makes parts swappable at races. With every truck being the same it makes all the prep on the trucks that much easier with the same parts nee

How many Brenthel trucks will make the race? We will have to see when they take on the Best in the Desert Vegas to Reno race August 14th to the 17th.
