Bestop Inc: TrekStep Making Bed Access Easier Than Ever

Project TowBoat is a 2011 Ram 2500 and its obvious job is to ferry the race truck across state lines from event to event. With the PJ 25-foot gooseneck trailer that is used, our bed access is limited from the back. You have to lean down to get under the trailer, watch your head when attempting to lower the tailgate, and it makes it effortful getting items out. The crew over at Bestop, sent us over a pair of their TrekStep (PN 7530615) to hopefully end this bed access dilemma.

So, what are TrekSteps? TrekStep is a flip-down step that allows you to access the bed from all corners and when you’re done, they are stowed away out of sight. These easy, bolt-on steps can be put on in about 15-minutes in most applications and are backed by a three-year limited warranty. Not only are they easy to install, but the TrekStep rear-mount also supports up to 300 pounds.

All of the linkage arms and mounting brackets are made of high-strength, die-cast aluminum alloy and features a non-skid, powder-coated, high strength, extruded aluminum step plate. Not only will they hold plenty of weight, but they are also safe to use in wet conditions.

In a matter of a half hour or so we were able to access our bed space much easier.

As most of you know, a lot of late model trucks already come with a step indention in their bumpers, but with a trailer behind you, like our truck, for example, it’s not that easy to use. TrekStep has a simple job and that is to make bed access from the corners convenient and stable. These steps are weather and work-ready and will defer rust and corrosion.

There is plenty of footing area to access the bed space for anything. Once you're done, simply flip the steps up into an almost hidden area until you need them again.

After the install and trying these out, these are a must have for any truck. Stay tuned as we put these steps to the test this season traveling across the country hitting drag racing events. To order your own set, or to find out more information about Bestop, be sure and check out their website. What do you think about these steps? Can you relate to the access with trailer issues? The Trekstep tucks away nicely and is just a pull away from being used.
