SEMA 2018: Energy Suspension Unveils Rock Flex System For Jeep JLs

On our way through the SEMA Show, we came across our friends at Energy Suspension. The company is known for its high-grade polyurethane bushings, and that can be seen once again in its new offerings for the Jeep Wrangler JL.

In talking with Energy’s Pete Williamsen, we got to know more about the new JL products and what it offers for off-roaders. “Our big focus is rolling out our Rock Flex line,” he said. “Energy Suspension has built its reputation on making an existing vehicle better, so with the Wrangler JL, we decided to do something special.”

That “something special” turned out to be the Rock Flex suspension system. The system includes control arm bushings that have a sort of high-misalignment spacer, which allows for a greater pivot angle and greater travel of the control arm. “We’ve increased the articulation by 25 percent,” said Williamsen. “And on the lower control arms, we have caster adjustment to help with perfecting the alignment.”

Elsewhere, things like coil spacers became a point of improvement that Energy Suspension could provide. “We found that the spring could take a ton of abuse,” said Williamsen. “We went ahead and made a coil spacer that added another 1.5-2 inches and adjust for rake.”

Bolstering the Jeep’s performance was a set of Fox shocks, which Energy Suspension found appropriate to pair with the Rock Flex system. “With the added shock travel and our Rock Flex system, a customer can really ride out the full articulation of their suspension,” commented Williamsen.

We think the Rock Flex system shows what a fantastic foundation the JL has, and how well it can be improved upon to truly maximize off-road utility. To find out more, head on over to Energy Suspension’s website and Facebook page.
