Ready To Rumble: Chevy Performance Rolls Out ZR2 Race Parts

Although the Chevy Colorado ZR2 is an interesting midsize off-road truck, it fell short in a lot of places in the eyes of hardcore off-roaders. Sure, it has more suspension travel than the base Colorado, but at just 8.6 inches in the front and 10 inches in the rear, it just isn’t enough for high-speed off-roading. Luckily, Chevy has been working on a suite of parts for the ZR2 and has now introduced 15 factory race components which have been tested with over 10,000 miles of off-road racing.

If you keep close tabs on off-road racing, you may have noticed a hopped-up Chevy Colorado competing in every Best in the Desert race of 2017 and 2018. Well, that’s the truck which all these new components were tested and validated with. The parts were developed by Chevrolet Performance in collaboration with Multimatic and Hall Racing. For the first time ever, you can now buy the Chevy Performance Parts that raced and won in the desert.

These new parts include a 1.5-inch body kit, front suspension lift, high-angle upper control arms, front long travel DSSV shocks, rear long travel DSSV shocks, long travel leaf springs, anti-wrap link system, leaf mounts, cross beams, front bump shocks, rear bump shocks, tie road sleeves, rear differential cover, driveshaft, and ball-spline half shafts. Some parts have already been priced, while others remain to-be-decided.

“These parts can be purchased individually to suit each customer’s needs, or as a complete package,” said Chevrolet Performance’s Mark Dickens. “This gives customers the flexibility to build their truck up over time, purchase only the parts they need for their particular interest, or buy the complete set to build their own ‘Hall Racing’ ZR2.”
