AEV now offers the perfect suspension solution for owners of 2013-2018 Ram 1500s equipped with the factory Air Ride or Rebel package. AEV’s DualSport-SC system works seamlessly with the factory front Bilstein IFS air struts and rear air bags to retain the stock ride-height adjustability. By adding four inches of lift, the DualSport-SC kit accommodates up to 35×12.50 tires with no additional modifications required (37×12.50 tires can be accommodated with fender-trimming). The AEV Ram DualSport-SC system improves off-road performance by an additional 3 inches of jounce (up-travel) and 1.5 inches of rebound (down-travel).
As with all AEV DualSport suspension systems, on-road handling isn’t compromised by the new kit – the factory Ram 1500 front struts and rear coils springs are retained. Also, all AEV suspension-system components are designed and manufactured in the USA, tested to meet or exceed OE specifications.
At the heart of the DualSport-SC Ram Air Ride system are AEV’s innovative steering knuckles, which are cast from A206 T4 aluminum. These taller-than-stock knuckles offer several benefits: They maintain steering geometry on the 4-inch-lifted Ram, re-position the upper control arms to optimize wheel alignment, minimize unsprung weight by using military-grade aluminum instead of ductile iron, move the hubs slightly forward for improved tire clearance in the wheelwells, and are profiled to clear 18×8.5 wheels with 5.32 inches of backspacing (20×9 wheels with 5.25 inches of backspacing are also tested to fit).
Further, the new AEV DualSport-SC kit comes complete with all necessary components to restore suspension and driveline geometry to OE parameters. These include front-strut spacer brackets, extended swaybar endlinks, raised rear airbag mounts, and a CNC-machined aluminum front driveshaft spacer. The DualSport-SC system also features AEV-tuned rear Bilstein 5100 shocks with proprietary, application-specific valving.
All front-end suspension and steering components are protected by the kit’s massive 4mm-thick stamped steel skidplate, which is contoured to maximize ground clearance. This skidplate also doubles as a differential mount to restore CV-axle angles to factory specifications.
AEV offers several other options and upgrades for late-model Ram 1500 trucks. First and foremost is the ProCal Module. It re-calibrates the truck’s speed signals to compensate for larger-than-stock tires. The corrected speed signal provides accurate speedometer readings and restores correct ABS brake functionality and proper automatic-transmission shift points. Other AEV upgrades for Ram 1500 trucks include wheels, bumpers, snorkel kits, a heat-reduction hood, and interior switch pods.
