The weather is cooling off and that means it is almost desert season, but happening this weekend, October 6-9, 2016 is the Best In The Desert (BITD) BlueWater Desert Challenge. The event, sponsored by Polaris is a two-day race in Parker, Arizona and has hundreds of race trucks, buggies, UTVs and motorcycles competing in many different classes.

Parker, Arizona is known as river town with lots of boat traffic and wide open desert, but the twenty-six-mile race course is snaked around the open desert outside the city of Parker and near the BlueWater Resort Hotel and Casino. Each class will be required to multiple laps based on the type of vehicle. The race course features lots of jumps, rock piles and exciting obstacles throughout and even runs right alongside the Colorado River for a section of it.

Off-road racing is a spectator sport, though it can be tough to watch the entire race. BITD is designating multiple areas for safe, enjoyment of the race as well as camping areas. The BITD website offers multiple maps including the above as well as files specifically for Garmin and Lowrance GPS units.

The entire event kicks off on Thursday, October 6 with the Time Trials for Trick Trucks and Class 1500. Friday features Race registration, contingency and tech inspection at the BlueWater Resort. The race starts early on Saturday, October 8 and then restarts on Sunday. The awards presentation will be after the end of the race on Sunday.

You know you need to get out and have some fun, why not do it where you can see some fast desert racing and play in the river all at the same time? For more information, visit the Best In The Desert website.
