As an avid off-roader and camping enthusiast, Courtney Holland was motivated to establish the Ventura County Offroad Show five years ago to address the needs of fellow enthusiasts throughout Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties. It will open to the public from April 9-10 at the Ventura County Fairgrounds at Seaside Park in Ventura, California.

The first event of its kind in Ventura County, the expo is brought to life each year by a team of Ventura County residents who share more than four decades of off-roading experience.

Ventura County Offroad Show 001Geared towards families who enjoy the outdoors together, the show promises something for everyone to appreciate, and to support the off-road culture, while preserving the integrity of the sport through open land awareness, organizations, small business, and community.

“While there are other events in Southern California, ours focuses on the smaller home-grown businesses that call Ventura County home,” Holland said. “We do have several larger corporations that attend the show, but our focus is based on individual, specialized shops and companies who cater directly to the sport.”

Holland said that 55 exhibitors and vendors have registered for the show to date, and he expects that number to grow to match the nearly 70 exhibitors who set up displays in 2015.

“Local attendees appreciate that we host an event like this close to home, and that they can come and meet vendors, fabricators, and manufacturers in a more social environment without the stress or pressure to buy in the store,” Holland said. “Plus, they get to see a lot of trucks, Jeeps, sand buggies, and occasionally a few off-the-wall builds they may not see anywhere else but at the Ventura County Offroad Show.”

Ventura County Offroad Show 002Providing added excitement, Holland said his focus each year is the same: “To wow the audience, and give them a reason to come out each year and be part of a great event.”

This year is a two-part shock to the system, he said. First, with the addition of a mini obstacle course, and second with the brute force power demonstrated at the wildly popular Diesel Dyno Competition.

The show is open from 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Adults are $10 per person. A discount of $3 for military with valid identification, and $2 discount for seniors. Children 12 and under are admitted free with each adult.
