In case you didn’t know, the Nissan Patrol is one of the most popular off-road vehicles in the world. More than likely you didn’t know because we never got them in the US. The Patrol is a simple little SUV with a cast iron inline 6 engine. Overseas it’s really popular to mount a giant turbocharger on a Patrol and thrash it in the dunes.
The guys over at Sand Limo [1] saw an opportunity to make a really unique sand car that no one else had. They imported a Nissan Patrol to the states, made a full fiberglass body out of it, built an entire chassis, designed suspension, and then stuck a twin turbo V8 in the back of it.

“The car took over a year and a half to build because we had to hand do the fiberglass,” said Joe Fab from Sand Limo. “The body took over two months to import because of the emissions regulations that a factory Patrol can’t pass.”
The engine that Sand Limo stuck in the back is a 454ci twin turbo LS from CBM Motorsports [4]. On on the dyno, it made an absolutely insane 960whp which is plenty enough for wheelies. The suspension was all custom CAD designed and cycles about 18 inches of travel. This relatively small amount of travel helps keep the Patrol low so it handles and does wheelies better.
