Video: B&M Precision SportShifter Upgrade For The Jeep JK

Whether you drive an automatic or a manual the first thing that is done after starting the vehicle is putting it in drive (or first). The shifter can be an intricate part of any driving experience and the folks over at B&M Racing [1] has a solution for the manual six-speed Jeep JK.

The Precision SportShifter (PN 45195 [3]) features a CNC billet aluminum case with an electric blue anodized finish which houses internal components made from 4140 chromoly. The shift throw has been reduced by 35 percent over the factory shifter along with the detent pressure increased to provide a stiffer shift feel.

The shifter uses the factory shift stick and knob, however, B&M Racing offers their magnum grip (PN 81085 [4]) to give the shifter a more updated feel. Both shift handles are modeled around the B&M Magnum Grip designs used on B&M’s racing shifters for a modern look and feel. The handles are CNC machined from billet aluminum and are black anodized.

The shifter may be covered up, but the blue anodizing makes this look like a museum piece.

The install of B&M Racing’s shifter is as simple as replacing the factory shifter. It will bolt into the same location. The video above shows the full install and walks through all the steps of the install.

If you are looking to improve the feel of the factory JK shifter the B&M Racing Precision SportShifter may be the option for you. For more information on B&M Racing’s products and applications be sure to visit its website [1].
