Video: AmericanMuscle Puts All-New 2017 F-150 Raptor To The Test

As our friend Justin Dugan at AmericanMuscle [1] mentions in its latest Hot Lap video series above, when you consider that the first generation F-150 Raptor debuted more than seven years ago, it really starts to sink in just how much this truck has changed in nearly a decade’s time. What was once a foundation for a 6.2-liter, naturally aspirated V8 engine with more than 411 horsepower, now houses a more powerful 3.5-liter twin turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine. The new power plant (as we’re sure you know by now) is good for more than 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque – a substantial increase in power over the last generation V8-powered Raptor.

So, how does the all-new next generation F-150 Raptor compared to its older brother? Well, as you’d imagine for a seven year gap, it’s nearly better in every possible way. Surprise, surprise.

The all-new 2017 F-150 Raptor has an increased ground clearance of more than two inches, an increased amount of suspension travel by nearly two inches in the front, and a full two inches in the rear and its own unique tread compound, thanks to a specially engineered set of off-road tires from BFGoodrich.

To summarize the performance of the all-new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor [4], Justin closes out with, “You have to thrash on this thing. You have to be tough on it, because then you really know where your money goes.”

Checkout the full video review above for all of Justin’s thoughts on the baddest Blue Oval truck around, and checkout AmericanMuscle [1]‘s website here for more information. One thing’s for sure folks, this twin-turbo Raptor doesn’t break a sweat out there.
